A discharge spout is the outlet port on a vibratory separator through which separated material exits the machine, with each screen deck having its own dedicated discharge spout to collect the oversize fraction from that deck level. Discharge spouts direct separated product streams into collection bins, hoppers, packaging equipment, or downstream processes.

On round vibratory separators, the gyratory motion spirals material outward from the center feed point to the perimeter, where the discharge spout is located. A multi-deck separator has a spout for each deck level plus a bottom pan that collects the finest fraction. Discharge spout position can be rotated around the separator body during installation to align with downstream equipment.
Discharge Configuration
- Single-deck separator: 1 oversize spout + 1 undersize (bottom pan) outlet = 2 fractions
- Two-deck separator: 2 oversize spouts + 1 bottom outlet = 3 fractions
- Multi-deck (up to 5): Up to 5 oversize spouts + 1 bottom outlet = up to 6 fractions
- Spout types: Open gravity, flanged for ductwork, sanitary tri-clamp
Why This Matters in Vibratory Screening
- Product stream routing — Proper spout configuration ensures each size fraction is directed to the correct collection point or downstream process.
- Sanitary requirements — Sanitary design discharge spouts with tri-clamp connections prevent contamination and allow CIP cleaning.
- Containment — Enclosed spouts with flex connectors prevent dust and product loss during discharge.
Related Glossary Terms

Discharge Spout FAQs
What is a discharge spout on a vibratory separator?
The exit port where separated material leaves the machine. Each deck has its own spout at the perimeter, directing oversize to collection points.
