Why Tension Matters

The number one cause of premature screen failure is poor tension. If a screen is "soft" or loose, three things happen:

  1. The wire flexes rapidly during vibration.
  2. This flexing causes "work hardening" of the metal.
  3. The wires snap (fatigue failure), typically near the ring edge.
