What Stainless Steel Grades Do You Offer for Screens?

We manufacture replacement screens in three stainless steel grades: 304 stainless steel (the most common, suitable for general-purpose and food-grade applications), 316 stainless steel (superior corrosion resistance for chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, and salt-containing products), and T430 nickel-free stainless steel (for applications requiring nickel-free contact materials). For a detailed comparison, read our guide on 304 vs. 316 vs. T430 stainless steel.

How Do I Know What Mesh Size I Need?

Mesh size depends on the particle size you need to separate. A higher mesh number means smaller openings. For example, 20 mesh has openings of approximately 841 microns, while 200 mesh has openings of approximately 74 microns. If you are replacing an existing screen, match the mesh size printed on your current screen's tag or frame. For new applications, our Screen Selection Quiz can help, or you can reference our Mesh Size Conversion Chart. Our team is also available to recommend mesh sizes based on your material and target separation.

What Is the Difference Between 304 and 316 Stainless Steel?

Both 304 and 316 stainless steel are austenitic grades with excellent corrosion resistance. The key difference is that 316 contains molybdenum (typically 2-3%), which gives it significantly better resistance to chloride corrosion, pitting, and chemical attack. Choose 304 for general-purpose screening, food processing, and dry powders. Choose 316 for chemical processing, pharmaceutical applications, marine environments, and any application involving acids, salts, or chlorides. 316 costs more than 304, so it is best reserved for applications where the added corrosion resistance is needed.

Do You Ship Internationally?

Yes. ScreenerKing ships to customers worldwide. International shipping costs and delivery times vary by destination and product size. Contact our team for an international shipping quote. Note that customers are responsible for any duties, taxes, or customs fees imposed by their country.

How Do I Request a Quote?

You can request a quote online by providing your screen diameter, mesh size, material type, quantity, and the OEM brand of your separator (if applicable). You can also call us at (866) 265-1575 or email us through our contact page. We typically respond to quote requests within one business day.

What Is a Sandwich Screen?

A sandwich screen is a self-cleaning screen assembly made up of two layers of mesh: a fine mesh layer on top (the working screen) and a coarser mesh layer below (the support screen), with small cleaning elements (typically rubber balls or cubes) trapped between the two layers. During operation, vibration causes the cleaning elements to bounce between the mesh layers, knocking out particles that would otherwise blind the fine mesh. Sandwich screens are the solution for applications prone to blinding, pegging, or plugging.

How Do I Measure for a Replacement Screen?

To measure for a replacement screen, you need two primary dimensions: the screen diameter (measured across the outer edge of the screen frame) and the mesh size (found on the screen's identification tag, frame stamp, or original purchase documentation). If you can identify your separator brand and model, we can look up the correct screen dimensions in our database. Our Screen Identification Guide walks you through the process step by step, or you can call us at (866) 265-1575 for help.

What Is Screen Blinding?

Screen blinding occurs when near-size particles become lodged in or cover the screen openings, progressively reducing the effective screening area and decreasing throughput. It is one of the most common problems in vibratory screening. Blinding is most likely when a significant portion of the feed material is close to the aperture size of the screen.

How Do I Prevent Screen Blinding?

Screen blinding can be prevented or reduced through several methods: using self-cleaning sandwich screens, installing ball trays or clean rings under the screen, applying ultrasonic deblinding technology, adjusting the screen mesh size slightly larger or smaller to move away from the near-size range, adjusting the lead angle and counterweight settings to increase material agitation, or switching to a different wire weave pattern. Our detailed article on preventing screen blinding, pegging, and plugging covers each method in depth.

What Is the Lead Time for Complete Screener Units?

Lead times for complete vibratory screener units vary by model and current demand. The SiftPro line (18", 24", 30") typically ships within 2 to 4 weeks. The SiftPro 48 (48") and SiftPro 60 industrial units may take 4 to 8 weeks depending on configuration. Contact us for the most current lead times on specific models.

All returns must be authorized in advance. For complete details and to initiate a return, see our Shipping and Returns page.

How Do I Choose Between 304 SS, 316 SS, and T430?

The right stainless steel grade depends on your application:

Material Best Applications Key Consideration
304 Stainless Steel General screening, food processing, dry powders, most non-corrosive applications Most cost-effective option with excellent general corrosion resistance
316 Stainless Steel Chemical processing, pharmaceuticals, salt products, acidic materials, marine environments Contains molybdenum for superior resistance to chlorides and chemical attack
T430 Nickel-Free Applications requiring zero nickel content, certain food and cosmetic products Magnetic, ferritic steel; no nickel content
